The VIVAVIS (formerly IDS Group) is a pan-European provider of information technology and IT services for the monitoring and control of infrastructure networks and is becoming increasingly important in the equipment of the power grid as part of the smart grid and smart metering . The company is based in Ettlingen , Baden-Württemberg , Germany and is owned by the German investment company Kajo Neukirchen .

history

IDS GmbH was founded in 1975 and is one of the first providers of telecontrol technology in Europe . The company continued to develop, from a device supplier to a provider of complete SCADA systems for electricity, gas, water and sewage networks. Since 2008 IDS GmbH has been one of the 100 largest software companies in Germany.

In the years 2009 to 2012, IDS GmbH undertook extensive acquisitions in order to broaden the product portfolio to include the entire value chain of the energy industry, from the control of the generation plants to the central network management in the control rooms of the energy supply companies to the counting of energy consumption by the end user . This resulted in an organizational restructuring in 2012, from which the IDS Group Holding GmbH emerged as the superordinate company. Since 2015, investments have also been made in companies for the branch operations control centers for authorities and organizations with security tasks. In May 2019, the IDS Group Holding GmbH was renamed VIVAVIS GmbH.
