from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The IFK Uppsala is a Swedish sports club in the city of Uppsala .

history

The club was founded in 1895 and had football , bandy , and athletics on offer. In the first decades of the 20th century, the club was one of the leading clubs in these sports, where national titles could be won, especially in bandy. In the 1940s the club was more or less successful in handball: in 1941 they reached the final of the Swedish championship. In 1963 the handball department was given up.

Today the club only offers football and bandy, with bandy being reintroduced for the 2006/07 season after the activities were "temporarily" suspended in 1990.

In football, the club currently plays in Division 3 (5th league) after the championship was celebrated in the 2009 season with a 2-0 win over Enköping IS. In the bandy the new bandy team starts in the 2006/07 season in division 4 (5th division).
