content

The divorced Angelika "Angi" Graf lives with her three children Tanja, Markus and Tom in West Berlin and is co-owner of a small boutique for children's fashion. Through her friends Sybille "Bille" and Alfons Vonhoff, she met the commercial artist Werner Schumann from Vienna at a party specially organized by Bille and initially withheld the existence of her children from him even after several meetings. When he hears about them, he nevertheless decides to marry Angi and bring her and her children to his big house. In the course of the series, the family goes through a series of family-typical adventures. Among other things, Angi and Werner have a baby, Franziska.

Staging

From episode 5, the house at Am Fichtenberg 12 in Berlin-Steglitz served as the home of the Schumann family

The script contains dialogues marked by humor and irony and provides some comedy . Above all, the portrayal of the gruff character Werner, who is equipped with “ Viennese Schmäh ”, is a pillar of the film plot.

At the center of the series is the idealization of "family happiness", albeit that of a blended family . In almost every episode, the character Werner emphasizes that after many years of short affairs nothing better could have happened to him than marrying a family. The characters Bille and Alfons, who are childless and each concerned with their own gain (she on her husband's money, he on fling with young women), serve as a contrast film - and are often drawn as quarreling and dissatisfied.

Flatow processed autobiographical experiences in his script because he himself had married a woman with several children. The role of Werner Schumann was originally supposed to be played by Harald Juhnke , Peter Weck was only supposed to direct. But Juhnke's alcohol problems prevented his involvement. So Peter Weck took on this role himself.
