I wanted to sing like Orpheus is the first German studio album by German songwriter Reinhard Mey and was released by Intercord in 1967 . Among the Meys albums, this takes on a certain special role, as seven of the 16 pieces are written by other poets / composers. On all later albums you will find almost exclusively songs that were both composed and composed by Mey.

Reinhard Mey mainly contributes love songs to this album, so the songs I wanted to sing like Orpheus , And for my girl , Almost a love song , space for her , I was all without you and in my city . Mey also sings the song Encounter by Hannes Wader .
Mey sings about everyday life in cities in the songs Spring in the Big City , Big City 8 a.m. and The Song of the Tram . These were not written by Mey, but by Udo Unger and the producer of the album, Walther Richter.
Walther Richter also wrote the song of the newspaper , the November song and the song of holy wars .
Reinhard Mey himself added the songs, Hauptbahnhof Hamm , I think it was a good year, and Abscheuliches Lied für Abbeuliche Menschen (In the department store) .
