Icomera

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Icomera AB is a Swedish telecommunications company .

history

Icomera AB was founded in 2003 and grew rapidly and is now one of the leading providers of mobile internet for buses, trucks, trains and other vehicles with constant data needs. The Swedish company is based in Gothenburg . Icomera expanded its systems with a connectivity to the 3G converters and the UMTS network.

As a Germany partner, Icomera Germany GmbH , based in Düsseldorf, has been registered in the commercial register since 2016.

Applications

Icomera specializes in the telecommunications infrastructure in trains and is one of the small number of providers in Europe who install functional customer Internet systems for high-speed trains. The company also builds systems for networks and transmission technology for radio and television stations.

British rail companies

The National Express East Anglia (NXEA) and Greater Anglia use Icomera WiFi systems on their Class 379 Electrostar trains .

Deutsche Bahn

After Deutsche Bahn AG did not extend its cooperation with Deutsche Telekom  and T-Systems for the communication infrastructure including the Internet on its trains in 2015  , it looked for a successor in a Europe-wide tender. Icomera won this together with Ericsson . As an innovation, the companies installed a multi-provider system because one provider alone cannot deliver the amount of data. The system's modems are therefore equipped with SIM access for all German providers ( Vodafone , Telefónica and Telekom) in order to connect to the radio cells along the route. The systems were installed on board the 386 ICE trains from July 2016.
