The Igman ( Cyrillic  Игман , 1502  m ) is a mountain in Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is located in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the territory of the Hadžići and Ilidža municipalities , on the western edge of Sarajevo . The Bosna River rises at its foot .

Parts of the Sarajevo Winter Games took place on Mount Igman in 1984 . The ski jumps for ski jumping as well as the Olympic winter sports center and several large hotels were located there .

During the siege of Sarajevo in the Bosnian War , the mountain was fought over. At times the only connection road to Sarajevo was over the Igman. In 1992, Bosnian Serb troops were on the verge of taking the mountain completely but were deterred by American threats. In 1995 , parts of a rapid deployment unit of 12,500 British, French and Dutch soldiers were stationed here.

Both the sports facilities and all the hotels were badly damaged during the war and most of them are still not in operation today. A wooden mosque (Ratna džamija na Igmanu) built during the war in the forest on the Igman is protected as a national cultural monument today.
