Il trionfo

Il trionfo ( Italian: Triumph ) is the solemn encyclical of Pope Pius VII from May 4, 1814.

Pius VII expressed in it that the triumph of divine mercy was now complete. With these words, Pius VII, after Napoleon's defeat near Leipzig (October 1813), praised the pope's return to the Holy See in Rome . He instructed his envoys to prepare for his entry into Rome, demanded full sovereignty, and offered consolation to all who had suffered under the occupation. Finally, he threatened the accomplices with a corresponding harsh but just punishment.
