ImageCD

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ImageCD is an ISO 9660 -compliant CD-ROM according to the Yellow Book standard and is used for digital archiving of photographs. It is offered exclusively as an additional service in the development of 35 mm or APS films.

General

The ImageCD represents an alternative to the well-known Kodak Picture CD or Fujicolor CD and is aimed at amateur photographers. The manufacturer is CeWe Color AG. The digitized photographs are saved on the compact disc with 8 bits per color channel in the lossy JPEG format. The images from 35mm film are available in a resolution of 1536 × 1024 pixels and in APS film with 1536 × 864 pixels. The image files are saved in the "Roll" directory. Only one negative film can be archived on an ImageCD.

Furnishing

In order to guarantee the assignment between the film and the associated ImageCD, the serial number of the film is printed on the CD in addition to the development date.

In addition to the photographs, there are also rudimentary programs for Windows and Macintosh for viewing, presenting, editing images and creating screensavers on the CD-ROM.
