The Immigration and Naturalization Service ( INS ) was an authority of the United States responsible for the entry and departure, immigration and naturalization was responsible. The agency was under the supervision of the Department of Justice and was based in Washington, DC It existed between 1933 and 2003.

After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , the Ministry of Internal Security was created. As a result, the previous responsibilities of the INS were transferred to three newly created authorities on March 1, 2003, which are subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Security:

• United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement
