The real estate Bremen , public institution (IB) was established by the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen built. It provides central administration and technical services for properties and buildings owned by or used by the municipality and the state of Bremen.

founding

The Free Hanseatic City of Bremen established the IB through the Real Estate Bremen Act of November 18, 2008 with effect from January 1, 2009. At the same time, the City of Bremen became the institution's sponsor through the Bremen Real Estate Local Act .

The company for Bremer Immobilien mbH (GBI) and Facility Management Bremen GmbH (FMB) , which is wholly owned by the city of Bremen, as well as the city of Bremen's own operation building and technology management (GTM) merged into the IB. Insofar as the Bremen offices still employed their own staff in building cleaning, they were transferred to the IB.

This reversed the earlier outsourcing of municipal fields of activity to companies with a civil-legal form ( formal privatization ) ( remunicipalization ).

tasks

According to the law, the purpose of the establishment is to ensure uniform management of the real estate and technical assets of its owners in accordance with commercial principles within the framework of specified goals (in particular urban development). In addition, it should offer services in the management of buildings and mobile and stationary systems and equipment to the services and facilities at customary market conditions. Further tasks can be assigned to it by the Senate.

IB manages the properties of the sponsors and acts as a landlord towards the users (mainly offices of the city and state of Bremen). For its part, IB also rents any additional buildings it needs. As a further main task, IB commissions and controls new construction, conversion, refurbishment and renovation of the buildings. In addition, caretaker services and building cleaning are offered. The intention is to increasingly carry out building cleaning with in-house staff and to reduce the use of external companies.

IB markets real estate under the aspect of urban development and uses its own real estate portal on the Internet for this. Immobilien Bremen procures electricity, gas and heating oil as well as appliances, office equipment and consumables centrally for the city and state of Bremen.
