The industrial association for technical textiles - roller shutters - sun protection e. V. (ITRS) is the leading organization for technical textiles in Germany. As a professional and employers' association, it represents manufacturers, garment manufacturers and suppliers.

tasks

As a professional and employers' association, the association represents the interests of the industries affiliated with it at national and European level. This includes the sectors of construction technology, digital printing and textile advertising technology, external sun protection or awnings, internal sun protection, roller shutters and external venetian blinds, automation, transport and protection technology, as well as sacks and jute products. He takes up professional, economic, technical, socio-political and legal questions. Political interests are represented in both Berlin and Brussels. The ITRS is u. a. Active in national and European standardization committees, in the working group on the fly of the Supreme Building Supervisory Authority and in the energy committee of the Federation of German Industries. He also takes part in the round table of the Federal Ministry of Transport. The extensive public relations work takes place e.g. B. via annual market statistics, publications and trade fair presence.

Every two years, the ITRS negotiates a collective bargaining agreement with the metal industry union for the collective bargaining member companies.

The ITRS supports qualified training and further education through a special association set up for this purpose. He promotes the professional profile of the technical manufacturer and, together with the IHK Bayreuth, carries out further training to become an industrial foreman textile, specializing in technical clothing.

history

The origin of the association lies in the production of sackcloth and jute. This united in 1935 in the sack and tarpaulin production sub-group of the Reichsbast fiber industry. After the Second World War, the manufacturers founded their own organization in 1951, the Verband Deutscher Sack- und Segeltuchwarenfabriken e. V. The founding board members at that time were Messrs. Volkmann, Brubacher and Jungfleisch. The office was based in Düsseldorf. In the same year, the first collective agreement for North Rhine-Westphalia was negotiated before the first nationwide collective wage agreement was established in 1973.

Just two years after it was founded, Joachim Ochs, Cologne, took over the helm as the first president. He was followed by a total of seven men, including today's President Bernd Seybold from Düren. After various name changes, the current name of the association was created in 2009: ITRS.

Since 1939, the association represented the profession of tentmaker, which in 1981 replaced the plastic and heavy fabric manufacturer. This gave way to the technical manufacturer in 1997. At the same time, the Association for the Promotion of Vocational Education and Training in the Field of the Confection of Technical Textiles was founded under the umbrella of the association. V. The apprenticeship of the technical manufacturer as well as the development association exist to this day.

Honorary President

Bernd Seybold - The general assembly of the industrial association for technical textiles - roller shutters - sun protection e. V. - ITRS - on November 8, 2012, the Düren entrepreneur Bernd Seybold as its first honorary president in the almost 80-year history of the association. Those present paid tribute to the commitment of their outgoing president, who no longer ran after 12 years in office.

Bodies

Various committees perform area and topic-specific tasks under the umbrella of the association. For example, they hold specialist seminars. The association is currently divided into seven specialist groups:

Construction engineering

It unites manufacturers, fabricators, landlords and suppliers of tents , tent halls, textile roofs and sun sails as well as textile architecture.

Industry association for roller shutters, gates, automation

This group is divided into four specialist committees: awnings , roller shutters , external venetian blinds and motors / controls. The companies represented there develop guidelines and documents for specialist dealers and customers. In addition, they deal with standardization procedures at European level.

Textile surfaces

The Textile Surfaces specialist group was founded in 2013 on the initiative of long-standing ITRS member companies in the fabric sector. On the one hand, it includes the producers of sun protection fabrics. On the other hand, manufacturers of fabrics and coatings for technical textiles are organized here. The Coating Working Group deals with the revision of European standards. Possibly. The German Institute for Standardization (DIN) receives objections for submission and discussion in the relevant committees. Volunteers from the companies represent the industry in national and European standardization committees. The awning weavers working group includes a. the topics of standardization of technical data, literature to support specialist partners and the chemicals ordinance on the agenda.

Sacks and jute products

This is where today's ITRS originated. Many of the founding companies at that time - manufacturers of sacks and jute products - are still today. a. engaged in this group.

Internal sun protection

It includes manufacturers who produce sun protection installed on the inside of the window. The members deal with measured variables for summer heat protection, test programs for textile sun protection and standards.

Transport and protection technology

Manufacturers and suppliers of tarpaulins organize themselves here. The focus is on truck tarps, but also scaffolding, pond and advertising tarpaulins as well as covers for shipping containers, swimming pools or convertible tops and sails are among the products represented here.

Digital printing and textile advertising technology

Manufacturers, manufacturers, stand builders and suppliers are all involved in this group. They work out documents and guidelines that they coordinate with the relevant building authorities.

In addition, the association's collective bargaining commission negotiates an industry-wide collective bargaining agreement with the metal industry union every two years for member companies bound by collective bargaining agreements.

Education and training, development association

The professional profile of the industry is the technical manufacturer . About 140 young people are currently being trained for him / her nationwide. The ITRS lists training companies on its website. The "Association for professional training and further education in the field of the manufacture of technical textiles e. V. ”, known as the KTex for short, was founded in 1997. At the same time, the Conference of Ministers of Education appointed the Richard Riemerschmid vocational college in Cologne as a transnational specialist class for prospective technical manufacturers. The college and the sponsoring association are in lively exchange. The KTex supports practical lessons with equipment and teaching material. He is also the publisher of the specialist book “Fachwissen Technische Konfektion”.

The KTex also promotes advanced training to become an industrial foreman in the textile industry, specializing in technical clothing. This training is carried out by the ITRS and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Upper Franconia in Bayreuth. In addition, the KTex offers a qualification for semi-skilled and unskilled workers.

Furthermore, he is a founding member of a European association of national associations for sun protection and shading - the European Solar Shading Organization (ES-SO). In addition, there is a mutual, cooperative membership of the American trade association for technical textiles, the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI).

measure up

The ITRS sits on the advisory board of the trade fair "R + T - the world's leading trade fair for roller shutters and sun protection" in Stuttgart, which takes place every three years. He is also a member of the advisory board of the biennial "TECHTEXTIL - International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens" in Frankfurt.
