An instauration is the reintroduction of an institution , in particular the kingship of a dynasty .

In contrast to a restoration , this is an institution that is no longer common or that has lost its reputation.

An example of an instauration was the re-establishment of kingship in Spain in 1947 (proclamation of the monarchy) or 1969 (appointment of Juan Carlos I as successor to Francisco Franco in the office of head of state) and 1975 (enthronement of Juan Carlos I after Franco's death) - at least according to Franco's view, who insisted on seeing this process as instauration, since, according to his ideas, he was not simply reintroducing the old-style monarchy, but an institution that should have to follow the principles of the Francoist state.
