The Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB for short) is a technical university in Bandung , Indonesia .
history
It was founded in 1920 and is the oldest technology-oriented university in the country. It was set up by the Dutch colonial administration as Technische Hoogeschool te Bandung (THB) to meet the needs of the colony's technical resources. On July 3, 1920, the "Faculteit van Technischen tuur en Wetenschap" (Faculty of Technical Sciences) started teaching with the afdeeling der Weg en Waterbouw (Road and Water Management Department ). After Indonesia's independence in 1945, she became part of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta . On March 2, 1959, the ITB was officially recognized as an independent academic institution by the Indonesian government.
