The Inter Türkspor Kiel e. V. is a German football club based in Kiel , the capital of Schleswig-Holstein .
history
Beginnings and construction of a sports facility
Already at the end of the seventies and beginning of the eighties there were plans to found an association for the Turkish population in Kiel. At that time, however, this project failed because of the bodies of the state of Schleswig-Holstein and financial resources. Just as aggravating was the fact that during this time the move back to the old homeland became stronger and stronger. The departure was less noticeable than expected and people have been able to gain a foothold in recent years. So the association was finally founded in 1989. After a “Turkish evening” on November 10, 1994, after discussions with representatives from politics, banks and the local economy, it was decided to build a sports field. The foundation stone for this square was laid on September 8, 1995 in the presence of Heide Simonis . On April 27, 1997, the new clubhouse was put into operation. On May 19, 2001, the entire facility was completed.
Time in the district league
In the 2002/03 season, the club played in the district league Kiel and finished tenth at the end of this season. After the 2004/05 season, the team landed in first place with 73 points and thus rose to the regional league east for the next season . In the first season in the new league, the club finished eighth with 50 points. With first place after the 2007/08 season, the team qualified for the restructured Association League North-East . The team's first season ended here in sixth place.
Promotion to the league
After a long time in the association league , the team landed in second place with 70 points and thus qualified for the promotion round to the Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein . After a return game against the second team of VfB Lübeck , the team finally made it theoretically. However, the club renounced the promotion and placed in the following season in first place in the association league. This time the team took on the promotion and thus played in the league for the first time in the 2017/18 season and after this season ended up in eighth place with 43 points. The club still plays there today.
