The FC Inter Turku is a Finnish football club from the coastal city of Turku . The club became Finnish champions in 2008 and cup winners in 2009 . He plays his home games in the 9,372-seat Veritas Stadium (Kupittaan stadium), where local rivals Turku PS also play their home games.
history
The association was founded in 1990. In the first two years it was only active in the youth sector. In 1996 the promotion to the top division, the Veikkausliiga , succeeded for the first time , but the following year the descent followed as 10th and last. The club has been top notch without interruption since the 1999 season. After finishing 4th in 2004, he qualified for an international competition for the first time, the 2005 UEFA Intertoto Cup . After the only victory to date with a 4-0 win at ÍA Akranes in the first round , FC Inter were eliminated in the second round against NK Varteks Varaždin .
The year 2008 was the most successful in the club's history to date. Inter won their first major title with the Finnish League Cup with a 1-0 final win over local rivals Turun Palloseura. On October 26, 2008, the club made their first win of the Finnish championship by beating FF Jaro 2-0 on the last match day.
In qualifying for the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League , the team failed with two 1-0 defeats against Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova . In the league, the defending champion reached only 5th place in the 2009 season, but won the Finnish Cup with a 2-1 in the final against Tampere United .
