The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) was founded in 2001. It is a non-profit organization with the aim of providing assistance to states that initiate or carry out processes, practices and organizational forms within the framework of transitional justice and to research these processes, practices and organizational forms.

Tasks of the ICTJ

The main tasks of the ICTJ are:

  • Advising state institutions and political decision-makers at local, national and international level,
  • Cooperation with victim groups and NGOs, human rights activists, women's organizations and others,
  • Research, research, analysis, reporting on transitional justice worldwide.

Differentiation from other NGOs

The main task of human rights organizations is to document and lobby against human rights violations.

The ICJT, on the other hand, is actively committed to supporting the transition process (transitional justice) after violations, e.g. B. of human rights.
