International Academy of Cytology

The International Academy of Cytology (Engl. International Academy of Cytology , IAC) is a scientific society for clinical cytology based in Ghent .

It was founded in Brussels in 1957 ; its first chairman was the German gynecologist Hans-Klaus Zinser . The IAC is based in Ghent , Belgium, and its chairman (as of 2017) is Robert Osamura from Japan . The official organ is the Acta Cytologica .

The IAC is the umbrella organization of 52 associations, including the German Society for Cytology , the Austrian Society for Cytology and the Swiss Society for Cytology . Since 1961, the association has presented the Maurice Goldblatt Cytology Award annually for outstanding work in the field of cytology.
