Life

Korschunow was the child of a German mother and a Russian father and grew up in Stendal. At the time of National Socialism , due to her father's origins, she found herself in the role of an outsider. After the Second World War , she went to Göttingen in 1949 to study German, English and theater studies there and later at the LMU Munich .

Korschunow was the author of numerous books for children and young people, novels and screenplays. For her works she has been awarded the Tukan Prize (1977), the Zilveren Griffel (1985), the Roswitha Prize (1987), the Günther Klinge Culture Prize (2001) and the Hertha Koenig Literature Prize (2004). excellent. She was a member of the PEN Center Germany .

Korschunov's novels for adults can be divided into two creative phases. While she dealt with recent German history and, in an abstracting sense, with her experiences in the pre- and post-war period, in her later oeuvre ( Das Spiegelbild ), she addressed herself in Glück has his price , Der Eulenruf , Malenka und Fallschirmseide (1983–1990) , Ebbe und Flut , From June to June , Das Luftkind , Langsamer Abschied ; 1992–2009) literary material largely free of autobiographical references. This is how epic novels emerged, told in the style so characteristic of Korschunow, “thoughtful language, little embellishment, seldom emotional debauchery. The tone is unpretentious and flowing ”.
