Irving Taylor

Irving C. Taylor (born August 13, 1919 - December 1991 in Ottawa , Ontario ) was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Irving Taylor began his career as a hockey player with the Ottawa Junior Senators and Saint Malachys, for which he was active from 1936 to 1938. He spent the 1938/39 season with the Perth Blue Rings. In the senior division he played for the Toronto RCAF in the 1940/41 season. During World War II , he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and rose to the rank of corporal. He spent the 1944/45 season at Ottawa # 17 Equipment Depot before he was on the ice in 1945 for the Ottawa RCAF and the Arnprior Rams. After a year break from ice hockey, he returned to the RCAF Flyers in Ottawa in 1946. With the team he represented Canada at the 1948 Winter Olympics. He was also used in the 1946/47 season in some games for the Renfrew Lions from the Upper Ottawa Valley Hockey League.

International

For Canada , Taylor took part in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , where he and his team won the gold medal. As a player-coach, he only played one game during the tournament.
