Isabel Mundry

Isabel Mundry (born April 20, 1963 in Schlüchtern ) is a German composer .

life and work

Isabel Mundry studied composition with Frank Michael Beyer and Gösta Neuwirth at the Berlin University of the Arts and with Hans Zender at the Frankfurt University of Music . In 1994 she took a course in music informatics at IRCAM in Paris.

From 1986 to 1993, Mundry taught music theory and analysis at the Berlin Church Music School and at the Berlin University of the Arts. In 1996 she took over a professorship for composition and music theory at the Frankfurt University of Music . Since 2004 she has been professor for composition at the Zurich University of the Arts . In addition, for the 2011/12 academic year, she took on a half professorship in composition at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . Mundry is a member of the Valuation Research Studies Advisory Board .

Mundry's works are characterized by an individualized and differentiated, inherently varied and nuanced musical language: “Almost nothing is repeated in Mundry's compositions; the same thing always turns out differently. ”Internationally renowned orchestras and ensembles have performed Mundry's works. Her music theater One Breath - Odyssey premiered at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in September 2005. The jury of critics of the specialist magazine Opernwelt chose this production as the “premiere of the year 2006”. In the 2007/2008 season, Mundry Capell was composer at the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden .
