The Izmailovsky Park ( Russian Измайловский парк ) is one of the largest parks and urban forests in Moscow . It is located in the eastern administrative district of the city and is an important local recreation area .

The park is made up of the Izmailovo Cultural and Recreational Park ( Измайловский парк культуры и отдыха ) and the Izmailovo City Forest ( Измайловский лес ). The former is located in the western part of the park area and, with its large number of cafes, ponds with boat rental stations, carousels, sports and children's playgrounds, serves primarily as an amusement park, similar to Gorky Park in the center of Moscow. To the east of the main avenue, the city forest extends over 1530 hectares. It emerged from the jungle areas of a former aristocratic residence, the residents of which had liked to use it as a hunting ground. Even today, this forest is one of the largest of its kind in the Russian capital and serves as a habitat for hundreds of plant species, 65 breeding bird species as well as wild animals such as martens , weasels and brown hares that are otherwise rare in the city .

The Partisanskaya metro station , which was called Izmailovsky Park until 2005, was named after Izmailovo Park . However, the closest metro station to the park's urban forest is the Izmailovskaya station, which is above ground and directly adjacent to the park .
