It's Only Love ( English , "It's Only Love") is a song by British band The Beatles in 1965, which on the album Help! appeared.

background

“The working title of the song was That's A Nice Hat , and that says a lot about how serious the author was about the piece.” “In this case, maybe the song's shortcomings were on the enormous pressure to produce more songs for the soundtrack album [...] "" It's Only Love is one of the last lyrics that John wrote without any real inspiration. "

composition

John Lennon : “ It's Only Love is mine. I always thought the song was pretty bad. The text is extremely bad. I've always hated the song. "" It was John's original idea and Paul helped him finish it. Paul rates him sixty-forty for John. It was a real filler. [...] Paul: 'Sometimes we didn't argue when the lyrics of one of those filler songs like It's Only Love were pretty flat. If a text was really bad, we edited it [...] '. "

The in 4 / 4 - stroke wrote song is in C major company and has a length of 1:55 minutes. The tempo is given as moderato , the genre of the song is a ballad .

text

“The text tells how his girlfriend sweetens his night and that he has butterflies in his stomach. [...] It was one of the few Beatles songs that John really hated. […] He condemned all the songs that John would rather not have written because of their lyrics and not because of the melodies, because he was of the opinion that he had created platitudes instead of real feelings [like that!]. "" You can hear, by the way, how he enjoys himself at the word 'bright', which he pronounces with a strong rolling R. "" When singing the last 'bright', you can hear him putting on a silly Scottish accent for the r, as if to let us know he realized it was a bit of a dud. " ("While singing the last 'bright' you can hear him put a goofy Scottish accent on the r, as if to let us know he realized it was a little dud.")
