Jógvan Sundstein

Jógvan Sundstein (born May 25, 1933 in Tórshavn ) is a former Faroese politician of the People's Party ( Fólkaflokkurin ). He was Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands from 1989 to 1991.

Life

Jógvan is the son of Johanna Malena, geb. Jensen and Hans Jacob Matras Sundstein from Tórshavn. He is married to Lydia, geb. Marsten from Klaksvík

Jógvan Sundstein is a trained auditor and has sat on various company boards. In 1970 he was elected to Løgting for the first time , where he was chairman from 1980–1984 and 1988–1989. From 1989 to 1991 he was Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands (Løgmaður) and 1991–1993 Minister in the State Government of the Faroe Islands .

Jógvan Sundstein published his memoir in 2008; it was the first time that a Faroese politician published an autobiography.
