Jürgen Jahn

Jürgen Jahn (born November 26, 1954 ) was a football player in East Berlin . For BFC Dynamo and 1. FC Union Berlin he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association .

Athletic career

Jahn began his career as a soccer player with the East Berlin company sports association (BSG) Empor Brandenburger Tor. At the age of 13, the BSG delegated him to the top club of the Dynamo police sports association , the Berlin FC Dynamo (BFC). During this time he completed an apprenticeship as a maintenance mechanic. When Jahn was allowed to play in the men's division in 1972, the BFC first used him in its second-rate GDR league team BFC II, with which he won the 1973 season. In 1975 the 1.79 m tall Jahn was used for the first time in the league. In the match on the 13th match day of the 1975/76 season Sachsenring Zwickau - BFC (0: 5) on December 20, 1975, he was substituted on in the 81st minute. For the 1976/77 season, the BFC nominated him for the newly formed junior league team. On the 18th matchday he was called up again in the first team in the league game BFC - Stahl Riesa (2-0). He played in left midfield for the full 90 minutes.

In the summer of 1977, Jahn left the BFC and moved to city rivals and league rivals 1. FC Union Berlin. There he was immediately nominated for the top division squad 1977/78, but was only used on the 13th match day in a top division game after he had previously played in a cup game in the first team. In the second half of the season, Jahn played eight other league games, of which he only completed three over the full playing time. His last league game took place on August 26, 1978. On the 2nd matchday of the 1978/79 season he was substituted on at the home game against Rot-Weiß Erfurt (0-0) in the 71st minute. In December 1978, Jahn ended his engagement with 1. FC Union Berlin after eleven games for the first team in which he did not score.

In January 1979 year joined the third-rate East Berlin district league team EAB Lichtenberg 47 . In 1981 he won the district championship with the Lichtenbergers, which was associated with promotion to the GDR league. This was followed by relegation and re-promotion and relegation to the district league every year. In the district league, Jahn finally ended his career as a football player.
