Jürgen Martschukat
Jürgen Martschukat (born March 2, 1965 in Cologne ) is a German historian .
Jürgen Martschukat attended the Catholic primary school Mainzer Str. In Cologne from 1971 to 1975 and the Humboldt-Gymnasium Cologne and the THG Kerpen from 1975 to 1984 . After graduating from high school in Kerpen in 1984, he studied history, economics and English at the universities of Bonn and Cologne from 1984 to 1990 . At the latter he was a tutor at the Anglo-American Department of the History Department from 1987 to 1990 and obtained his Magister Artium in 1990 . From 1990 to 1993 he worked as a freelance editor at the DuMont book publisher. He received his doctorate in 1993 at the University of Hamburg , where he was a research assistant at the Department of History from 1993 to 2001 .
After his habilitation and Venia Legendi in Modern History, he became a private lecturer in Hamburg in 1999 , where he held the chair for North American History from 2002 to 2003. The German Research Foundation funded him from 2003 to 2005 as a Heisenberg fellow at the University of Hamburg. After taking on the W3 professorship for North American History in Erfurt in 2005, he has been teaching as Professor for North American History at the University of Erfurt since 2006 .
His main research interests are North American cultural history, history of violence, family history, gender history, and history theory.
