Jürgen Theobaldy

Jürgen Theobaldy (born March 7, 1944 in Strasbourg ) is a German writer who lives in Switzerland .

life and work

Jürgen Theobaldy, who comes from a working-class family, grew up in Mannheim . After completing a commercial apprenticeship , he studied to be a primary and secondary school teacher at the universities of teacher education in Freiburg im Breisgau and Heidelberg . After that study , he literature at the universities of Heidelberg and Cologne , and since 1974 at the Free University in Berlin . He has lived in Switzerland since 1984.

Jürgen Theobaldy, whose literary beginnings lie in the student movement of the 1960s, began to experiment with everyday poetry and stricter, traditional forms in the 1970s . In addition to poems , he has also published a number of prose volumes , most of which process the author's own experiences.

In 1992 he received a book award from the city of Bern for his work In den Aufwind and in 2003 for the Trilogy der Next Targets . The Literary Commission of the City of Bern awarded him the 2006 Literature Prize for his complete works.

Jürgen Theobaldy is a member of the “ Authors of Switzerland ” association. Until 2009 he worked part-time as a recorder of minutes for the parliamentary services of the Federal Assembly.
