Jacquemontia is a plant genus in the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The 100 to 110 species arewidespreadin the Neotropic and Paleotropic .

Jacquemontia are perennial or annual , herbaceous plants , shrubs or lianas . The stem axis usually lignifies at the base. The plant parts are hairless or densely hairy, the trichomes are mostly branched. The leaves usually have a heart-shaped base, are whole, toothed or lobed and often have fine glandular points.

The small or medium-sized flowers are in axillary, umbrella-shaped or head cymes . The hermaphroditic flowers are radial symmetry and five-fold with a double flower envelope . The flower base is small or not developed. The five sepals are shaped the same or almost the same. The crown is bell-shaped or funnel-shaped and colored blue, purple, white or red. The coronet is entire, five-toothed or lobed. The filaments and pistil usually do not protrude beyond the crown. The pollen grains are paltocolpat. Two carpels are an above-permanent, two-chambered ovary grown, the four ovules contains. The thread-like stylus ends in two elliptical or elongated and flattened scars .

The spherical or almost spherical capsule fruits are bicameral with four or rarely eight compartments and contain four seeds. The seeds are hairless, warty or ruminated , winged or finely hairy.

The genus Jacquemontia was established in 1834 by Jacques Denys Choisy . Synonyms for Jacquemontia Choisy are: Emulina Raf. , Lobake Raf. , Thyella Raf. , Montejacquia Roberty , Schizojacquemontia (Roberty) Roberty .

The genus Jacquemontia belongs to the tribe Jacquemontieae within the family Convolvulaceae .
