Jakob Christoph Blarer (Blaurer) von Wartensee (born May 11, 1542 at Rosenberg Castle in the municipality of Berneck SG ; † April 18, 1608 in Pruntrut ) was Prince-Bishop in the diocese of Basel .

Son of Wolf Dietrich (alias Wilhelm) Blarer and Helena von Hallwil. Theological studies in Freiburg im Breisgau .

After receiving his episcopal ordination on February 10, 1577 , with the help of the Capuchins and the Jesuits, he implemented the reforms of the Council of Trento , re-Catholicized parts of his territory (especially the German-speaking Birstal thanks to the Baden Treaty of 1585 ) and led a diocesan synod in 1581 by. He went to visitations in all parishes under his control and introduced revised missals , rites books , breviaries and martyrologies .
