Jakob Luke Dylan (born December 9, 1969 in New York City ) is an American singer-songwriter . Dylan became known as the singer and songwriter for the band The Wallflowers , after which he attracted attention as a solo artist.

Life

Jakob Dylan is the youngest son from the marriage of Bob and Sara Dylan . In 1992 Dylan married his childhood sweetheart Nicole Paige Denny. The wedding reception took place at Sara Dylan's property. Today Jakob lives with his family in Los Angeles and Pennsylvania . Dylan has four sons.

The Wallflowers

Jakob Dylan started his career as a singer as the frontman of the rock band The Wallflowers . The group was founded in 1990. Their debut album was released in 1992. In 1996, the album Bringing Down The Horse was released . The album sold over four million copies (twice as many as his father's album, Blood on the Tracks ).

In November 2002 the band released their fourth studio album, Red Letter Days (RLD). RLD was the first Wallflowers album on which singer Jakob Dylan did a large part of the guitar parts himself.

The album Glad All Over , released in 2012, is the Wallflowers' last album so far. Jakob Dylan won two Grammy Awards for The Wallflowers in 1998 .

Jakob Dylan signed a contract with the music label Columbia Records as a solo artist in 2006 .

Dylan wrote the song Here Comes Now as the soundtrack for the Six Degrees series and has worked with other artists.

Since September 2007, Dylan has been working on his first solo debut album, which was produced by Rick Rubin . The album Seeing Things was released on May 13, 2008. Seeing Things is a classic, purely acoustic folk album with a reduced sound. The majority of the songs deal thematically with the topic of "war".

In 2008 Jakob Dylan went  on tour with his backing band - the Gold Mountain Rebels - which also took him to Europe in October 2008. In Germany he played in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne.

He was also seen in August 2008 in the opening act for Eric Clapton .

In April 2010 Jakob Dylan's second solo album came out. Women + Country was produced by T Bone Burnett , who also produced the Wallflowers album Bringing Down the Horse . Musically, the songs by Women + Country can be classified as Americana . The songs are characterized by horns, pedal steel and the background vocals of the singer-songwriters Neko Case and Kelly Hogan , which can be heard on most of the songs on the album.
