Jalandhar ( Punjabi : ਜਲੰਧਰ; formerly anglicised Jullundur ) is a city (since 1991 Municipal Corporation ) in the northwest Indian state of Punjab with almost 864,000 inhabitants.

It is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . Sugar, canning, textile and metal industries. The city is known for its traditional ivory carving .
