Jamāʿat Nusrat al-Islām wa-l-Muslimīn Arabic جماعة نصرة الإسلام والمسلمين, DMG Dschamāʿat Nuṣrat al-Islām wa-l-Muslimīn  'Group for the support of Islam and Muslims', mostly transcribed in English as Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslim (JNIM) or Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslim , is a jihadist extremist group that was formed in March 2017 through the merger of several terrorist groups and operates in the Maghreb and West Africa.

It is close to the terrorist organization al-Qaeda and is an amalgamation of Ansar Dine , Macina Liberation Front , Al-Mourabitoun and the branch of al-Qaeda active in the Sahel in the Islamic Maghreb . She has also been held responsible for various fatal attacks, including on UN peacekeeping forces , particularly in Mali.

Due to the increasing fighting, the G-5 Sahel states, namely Mali , Niger , Chad , Burkina Faso and Mauritania , have come together within the “ Joint Force of the G5 Sahel ” ( G5 Sahel ) to effectively fight extremists like the JNIM. The European Union (EU) has granted early July 2017 grants amounting to 50 million euros for the construction of the new G5 troupe, which also improves the stability of the region and the number of refugees is to be reduced.

In resolution 2374 (2017) on the situation in Mali, adopted by the UN Security Council on September 5, 2017 , the latter condemned not only the activities of other terrorist organizations but also those of JNIM. Members of it are therefore threatened by international sanctions.
