James Davison (born August 28, 1986 in Melbourne ) is an Australian racing driver . He comes from an Australian racing family.

Career

In 2004 Davison began his motorsport career in the Victorian and Australian Formula Ford . In 2005 he moved to North America and competed in the US Formula BMW . He won a race and finished sixth in the drivers' championship. In 2006 he took part in the Atlantic Championship . While his teammate Simon Pagenaud won the championship title, Davison finished the season in 17th place.

In 2007 Davison moved to the Star Mazda Series . He won a race and was runner-up behind Dane Cameron . In 2008 he started for Sam Schmidt Motorsports in the Indy Lights . He won a race and finished the season in ninth place, while his teammates Richard Antinucci and Ana Beatriz finished second and third. In 2009 Davison switched to Vision Racing and contested his second Indy Lights season. He decided a race for himself. With 447 to 545 points, he was runner- up behind JR Hildebrand .

Davison has been without a fixed cockpit since 2010. From 2010 to 2012 he competed in a total of five races in the Rolex Sports Car Series . In addition, at the end of 2011 he completed IndyCar test drives for Andretti Autosport . In 2012 and 2013 he took part in a total of five races in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup .

In 2013 he made his debut for Dale Coyne Racing in the IndyCar Series and took part in two races. A 15th place was his best result. He also drove three races in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge . In 2014 Davison competed for The Racer's Group in the GTD class of the United SportsCar Championship (USCC). He reached the 21st place in the GTD ranking. He also took part in four races of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge and won one race. In addition, Davison competed for KV Racing Technology at the Indianapolis 500 . In 2015 , Davison stayed with The Racer's Group in the USCC. After the eighth race, he finished tenth in the GTD classification. In addition, Davison competes in the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge . After the seventh race weekend he was in fifth place in the GT classification. Davison also took part in the Indianapolis 500 for Dale Coyne Racing in 2015 .

Personal

Davison comes from an Australian racing family. His grandparents Lex and Diane , his father Jon and his uncle Richard and his cousins Alex and Will Davison were or are all racing drivers. Was also Tony Gaze , the first Australian Formula 1 -Fahrer, his step-grandfather.
