James Andrew Welbon Haskell (born April 2, 1985 in Windsor ) is an English rugby union player . He plays as a winger or number eight for the Northampton Saints and the English national team .

Haskell first played for England's men's national team at the Six Nations 2007 . Previously, he was active for the Saxons, the 7-man national team and for the U21, U19 and U18 selections. At the age of 18 he was used for the first time in the English championship for the London Wasps . In the 2006/07 season he became a regular player and was used in 25 games of the season. In that season, the Wasps won the Heineken Cup .

Haskell was in England's squad in the run-up to the 2007 World Cup , but he was not considered for the actual tournament. Under the new national coach Martin Johnson he belongs to the core of the English selection. In November 2008 he played in all games against the teams of the southern hemisphere . For the 2009/10 season he left the London Wasps and moved to France to Stade Français. For the 2011/12 season, Haskell moved to Japan to the Ricoh Black Rams . He then moved to the Highlanders in Dunedin , New Zealand for the 2012/13 season . From 2013 he played again for the London Wasps . For the 2018/2019 season he moved to the Northampton Saints .
