James L. Schoppe

James L. Schoppe is an American production designer and art director .

Life

Schoppe began his career in 1972 in the film crew as a Design Consultant at the blaxploitation film Black Girl by Ossie Davis . He subsequently worked as art director on a number of films, including Welcome Mr. Chance , The Rose, and Return of the Jedi . 1984 he worked for Richard Marquand fiction film science along with Norman Reynolds , Fred Hole and Michael D. Ford for the Oscar in the category Best Art Direction nominated, but the award went this year to the film drama Fanny and Alexander . Between 1976 and 1982 Schoppe worked on four Hal Ashby films , including This Land is My Land and Coming Home .

In the 1990s Schoppe worked on a number of television productions, including the television film Mrs. Lambert's Last Journey with Walter Matthau and Ellen Burstyn in the lead roles.
