Jan Adam Maklakiewicz

Jan Adam Maklakiewicz (born November 24, 1899 in Chojnata , † February 7, 1954 in Warsaw ) was a Polish composer.

After his first lessons with his father, Maklakiewicz studied in Warsaw at the Warsaw Music Academy with Felicjan Szopski and Leopold Binental and from 1922 to 1925 composition with Roman Statkowski . Until 1927 he continued his composition studies with Paul Dukas at the École Normale de Musique in Paris.

From 1927 he was a teacher of music theory at the Łódź Conservatory and from 1929 at the Warsaw Conservatory. In 1932 he became organist at the Church of the Holy Cross in Warsaw. From 1945 to 1947 he was director of the State Philharmonic in Cracow and from 1947 of the State Philharmonic in Warsaw, where he also taught composition at the Music Academy.
