Jan Brzechwa
Jan Brzechwa (actually Jan Wiktor Lesman ; born August 15, 1898 in Schmerynka , Podolia , today Ukraine ; † July 2, 1966 in Warsaw , Poland ) was a Polish poet , children's writer and translator of Russian literature ; including the works of Sergei Jessenin , Vladimir Mayakovsky and Alexander Pushkin .
Life
Brzechwa was in a Polish-Jewish family as January Lesman and studied at the University of Warsaw Law . In 1920 he published the first satirical short stories.
In 1926 the poetry collection "Oblicza zmyślone" followed . In 1937 he published the first poems for children in "Tańcowała igła z nitką" .
At the same time he worked as a lawyer for the organization of authors and composers ZAiKS , for whom he dealt with questions of copyright .
One of his poems begins with the sentence “ ” (for example: In Szczebrzeszyn a beetle hums in the reed. ). This tongue twister phrase is often quoted to illustrate the difficulty of learning the Polish language .
