Jan Ehrenwald

Jan Ehrenwald (born March 13, 1900 in Preßburg , Austria-Hungary ; † June 15, 1988 in Somers , New York) was a Czech-American psychiatrist and psychotherapist .

Life

After studying medicine in Prague , which he completed with a doctorate, Ehrenwald went to London as a resident psychiatrist . There he was elected to the Royal Medico-Psychological Association and joined the Society for Psychical Research , since he had taken an interest in parapsychology , especially the relationship between telepathy and psychoanalysis . He later relocated to the United States and became a member of the New York Academy of Medicine , the American Academy of Psychotherapists , a founding member of the Parapsychological Association, and a curator of the research committee of the American Society for Psychical Research . From around 1950 he was the head of the psychiatric outpatient department at New York's Roosevelt Hospital. After retiring in 1975, he lectured in Florida and New York.

Ehrenwald was married and had a daughter.
