Jan Einig (born March 10, 1976 in Mendig ) is a German local politician (CDU). Since April 2016 Jan Einig was first full-time alderman (mayor) of Neuwied , since 2017 he has been elected mayor.

Life

Einig was born in Mendig am Laacher See in 1976 as one of three children of a local politician. He spent his childhood in Mendig; In Andernach he attended the Kurfürst-Salentin-Gymnasium . In 1995 he completed his school education with the Abitur. After his community service he completed an apprenticeship as an energy electronics technician and then studied civil engineering at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences , where he graduated in 2004 with a diploma.

Subsequently, Einig worked for planning offices and a construction company as a site manager. In 2008, he moved to the Mendig municipal administration as a civil engineer . In 2011 he took over the civil engineering department of the Neuwied city administration as department head. Jan Einig has been married since 2006 and has three sons.

Mayor of Neuwied

On December 8, 2015, the Neuwied City Council elected Jan Einig with 41 out of 44 votes unopposed as First Full-Time Alderman (Mayor). As a result, since the surprising death of the acting mayor Nikolaus Roth, he has been his deputy in the top of the city and has been responsible for the official business of the city of Neuwied in a division of labor with the councilor Michael Mang.

In addition, he took over the leadership of various committees as the representative of the late mayor. As deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Neuwied, he temporarily chaired the supervisory board, the same applied to the supervisory board of the municipal settlement company, as well as to the city's special-purpose associations and economic interests.

As regular chairman, he chaired the general assembly of the Forest Purpose Association and the administrative board of the Neuwied service operations.

Lord Mayor of Neuwied

In a run-off election on October 15, 2017, Einig was elected Lord Mayor with 59.56% against Michael Mang.

Voluntary and political engagement

In addition to the gymnastics club and the carnival society, Einig was particularly active on a voluntary basis in the Kolping family. As a youth leader he was active in church youth work and organizes children and youth camps to this day. As the diocesan youth leader of the Kolping Society of Trier, Einig was active in association work.

In 1990 Einig joined the Junge Union and later the CDU , where he held various board positions.

In 2019 he was elected to the district council of the Neuwied district.
