Jan Kromkamp (born August 17, 1980 in Makkinga ) is a former Dutch football player .

Career

society

Kromkamp started playing football in Apeldoorn at the AGOVV club. He made his debut as a professional player on September 18, 1998 in the jersey of the second division Go Ahead Eagles Deventer . There he was one of the regulars in his first season and played 28 games. From the 2000/01 season to the 2004/05 season he was in the squad of AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch honor division . There, too, he was able to assert himself and was one of the top performers. In the 2005/06 season he moved to Villarreal in the Spanish Primera División , but was transferred to Liverpool in exchange for Josemi during the winter break .

Kromkamp made his Premier League debut on January 7, 2006 in a 5-3 draw against Luton Town in the FA Cup . In his position he was in competition with Steve Finnan , but could never really prevail. At the 125th FA Cup Final, he won his first and only title with the Reds . On the last transfer day before the 2006/07 season, he moved back to the Netherlands for PSV Eindhoven . There he found back to his old strength and was able to win the championship with the red-whites in 2007 and 2008 . After several injuries, however, he was unable to convince coach Fred Rutten in the 2009/10 season and was deported to the second team for the following season. In 2011 he moved back to the Go Ahead Eagles , where he ended his career in 2013.

National team

On August 18, 2004, Kronkamp played his first game in the Dutch national football team in a friendly against Sweden . Before the 2006 World Cup , he was used ten more times in the national team. Then the Dutch national coach Marco van Basten nominated him for the tournament, in which he was not used. It remained at eleven internationals for the Netherlands.
