Jan Nevermann

Jan Nevermann (born July 9, 1935 ; † June 10, 2018 in Pinneberg ) was a German politician of the SPD and mayor of Pinneberg.

Life

Nevermann, son of Hamburg's mayor Paul Nevermann and brother of Anke Fuchs , joined the SPD in 1956 and from 1962 sat in the council of the city of Pinneberg. He was particularly involved in the areas of finance and economics. Between 1966 and 1970 he served as chairman of the council committee for the municipal utilities and the fire brigade, in 1970 and 1971 and from 1974 to 1978 Nevermann headed the finance committee. In 1986 he took up the office of mayor, which he held until 1990. From June 1990 to June 1996 he was Mayor of Pinneberg. From 2002 onwards, Nevermann became involved in the citizens' initiative “Pinosaurier”, which was primarily committed to helping socially disadvantaged children.

He died in Pinneberg after a long illness.
