Jane Therese Curtin (born September 6, 1947 in Cambridge , Massachusetts ) is an American actress .

life and career

Jane Curtin was born to Mary Constance and Joseph Curtin, who owned an insurance agency . She was raised a Roman Catholic . She attended Elizabeth Seton Junior College and Northeastern University in Boston .

In April 1975 she married Patrick Lynch. Their daughter was born in 1983.

Her breakthrough came through her appearances on Saturday Night Live , an American comedy show in which several well-known actors had their breakthrough. She also played the role of Allison "Allie" Lowell, a single mother, in the series Kate & Allie from 1984 to 1989 . For this role she received two Emmy Awards for best actress in a comedy series. From 1996 to 2001 she was in the series Hinterm Mond as Dr. See Mary Albright. In 2006 she played one of the main roles in the series Crumbs , which did not go beyond a season. From 2012 to 2014 she appeared in Unforgettable .
