Janne Niskala (born September 22, 1981 in Västerås , Sweden ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Lukko Rauma in the Liiga since June 2014 .
Career
Janne Niskala began his career as a hockey player in the youth division of Lukko Rauma , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2000/01 season . The defender remained pointless and punished in 18 games. In the course of the season he also played for Jää-Kotkat in the second-class Mestis and for the A-Juniors of his home club. He finished the season with Manchester Storm in the British Ice Hockey Superleague . The left shooter returned to Finland in the summer of 2001, where he spent another four years at his former club from Rauma. After he had stood on the ice for EV Zug in the Swiss National League A in the 2005/06 season , he was signed for a year by Färjestad BK from the Swedish Elitserien .
In the summer of 2008 Niskala signed a contract as a free agent with the Nashville Predators from the National Hockey League , but was used in the following season exclusively for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Milwaukee Admirals . At the end of the season he was first given to the Philadelphia Flyers and finally the Tampa Bay Lightning . He made his NHL debut for the Florida team and scored one goal in six games and prepared another two, but the Finnish international decided to move to Frölunda HC in the Elitserien, for which he played until 2010. In the 2010/11 season he was under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . In May 2011 the Finn was signed by Atlant Moskowskaja Oblast , for which he was active in the KHL until October 2012. Then Niskala was exchanged for Jonas Frögren from HK Dinamo Minsk , as Dinamo wanted to strengthen the offensive power of the defense. After the end of the 2012/13 season, he returned to Atlant.
Since June 2014 he has been under contract with his hometown club in Rauma again.
