Jason Kent Bateman (born January 14, 1969 in Rye , New York ) is an American actor , film and television director and film producer .

life and career

Bateman began his career with a lead role in the television series Our Little Farm , in which he played the role of James Ingalls from 1981 to 1982 . In the mid-1980s, he was able to increase his fame with further leading roles in series such as Silver Spoons , It's Your Move and The Hogan Clan .

His career stagnated after The Hogan Clan was deposed in 1991 . It wasn't until 2002 that he was able to revive her with a role in the movie Super Sweet and Super Sexy . This was followed by roles in the films Starsky & Hutch and Voll auf die Nüsse .

From 2003 to 2006 he starred Michael Bluth in the sitcom Arrested Development , for which he was nominated for an Emmy for Best Actor in 2005 and won both a Golden Globe and a Satellite Award . The series was discontinued in February 2005 because of poor audience ratings after a shortened third season (instead of 20 to 24 episodes, it had only 13). However, she returned to the video-on-demand provider Netflix in May 2013 for 15 new episodes in which he took up his role again.

Since 1989 he has also been active as a director. Until the 2000s he staged a few episodes of various television series, in 2013 he made his feature film debut with Bad Words . In 2012 he founded Aggregate Films and has been involved in several films as a producer since 2013.

His father is American and his mother is English . His older sister Justine Bateman starred in the series Family Ties. Jason has been married to Amanda Anka , daughter of singer and actor Paul Anka , since 2001 . He has two daughters with her.
