Jean-Pierre Mocky (1995)

Jean-Pierre Mocky (actually: Jean-Paul Adam Mokiejewski; born July 6, 1933 in Nice ; † August 8, 2019 in Paris ) was a French film director and actor .

life and career

Mocky began his film career as an actor (including 1942 in The Night with the Devil and 1949 in Orpheus ), later he directed. He staged black humor farces and was considered a representative of anarchic film. When he wasn't acting himself, his preferred lead actor was Michel Serrault (he was in ten of Mocky's films). After the anarchic 1970s, since the end of the 1980s, other greats of French film could be seen in works by Jean-Pierre Mocky, including Jeanne Moreau ( The Miracle of Papu ) , Stéphane Audran (A Turbulent Weekend) , Catherine Deneuve ( Agent Trouble - Accidental murder ) , Claude Jade ( Bonsoir ) , Jane Birkin (Noir comme le souvenir) and Michael Lonsdale (Le Furet) . At the beginning it was about satires on life and after 1968 about the reaction of terrorists to the bourgeois world (such as in A City Trembles Before Solo ), later it was farces. Rogues make a fraudulent pilgrimage to Lourdes in The Miracle of Papu and want to cheat an insurance company through miraculous healing. The homeless Alex (Serrault) stays with the lesbian Caroline (Jade) in Bonsoir and saves her inheritance from her homophobic relatives. His work as an actor comprised more than 85 film and television productions, as a director he appeared almost 80 times.
