Jean Doisy (born January 10, 1900 in Jodoigne , Belgium , † October 6, 1955 ) is the pseudonym of Jean-Georges Evrard . He was a Belgian writer, comic book author and the creator of the character Fantasio .

biography

He began his career at Editions Dupuis publishing house with the publication of novels in the collection Azur series .

He was editor-in-chief of Spirou magazine from 1938 to 1955; he was succeeded by Yvan Delporte . He was responsible for various sections, including letters to the editor.

In this context he used the pseudonym Fantasio , which was first drawn by Jijé in 1942 (Issue No. 11, Journal de Spirou.) At Doisy's request, Jijé accepted the character into the staff of the Spirou adventures.

In August 1938, Jean Doisy invented the “Club des A mis D e S pirou” (ADS) - the “Friends of Spirou” readers' fan club. Members commit to a code of honor that encompasses values ​​such as openness, honesty, discipline, belief in God, and patriotism.

He also developed the character of the detective Jean Valhardi with Jijé .

He is buried in Auderghem .
