Jenny Macklin (born December 29, 1953 in Brisbane , Queensland ) is an Australian politician .

Life

After finishing school, Macklin studied economics at Melbourne University. After completing her studies, she worked as an economics expert. Macklin is a member of the Australian Labor Party . Macklin has been a member of the Australian Parliament since March 1996 . Since 2007, Macklin has succeeded Mal Brough as Minister in the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs . Macklin lives in Ivanhoe , Victoria .
