Jens Christian Hostrup

Jens Christian Hostrup (born May 20, 1818 in Copenhagen , † November 21, 1892 in Hillerød ) was a Danish writer .

Life

After completing his studies, Hostrup got a job as private tutor and pastor. Under the influence of Johan Ludvig Heiberg and Ferdinand Raimund , Hostrup began to write Singspiele . Exact descriptions of the milieu and characters and accurate dialogues brought some success and the premieres were all warmly received by the critics. Hostrup also wrote many songs for the Danish folk high school , some of which became very popular. Jens Christian Hostrup died on November 21, 1892 in Hilleroed.
