Jens Koppe
Jens Koppe (born September 11, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player who played in the GDR league for FC Hansa Rostock in the 1980s . He is also a multiple GDR junior national player.
Athletic career
When he was 13, Koppe joined the FC Hansa Rostock youth team. After he was promoted to the junior team, he was accepted into the squad of the GDR junior national team in 1980, with which he played 14 junior international matches until 1981, in which he was once successful as a goalscorer. In the 1979/80 season, the 1.73 m tall Koppe had completed his first two point games as a substitute for the men's team, which played in the second-rate GDR league that season.
After Hansa was promoted to the GDR Oberliga, Koppe was reported for the 1980/81 season for the junior league , with which he played 13 of the 26 played point games as a striker and scored two goals. He was also used as a substitute in four league games in the GDR league. For the season 1981/82 Koppe was officially nominated for the league team. In fact, he initially played again in the junior league, where he played 14 games by February 1982. Only then was he used in the GDR league, but then played all of the remaining eleven point games as a striker. 1982/83 Koppe was again a regular in the youth team with 16 missions (two goals), while he only played four times in the first team. Koppe made his breakthrough to become a regular in the 1st team in the 1983/84 season, when he played continuously on the left attacking side from 7th to 25th matchday and was successful with three goals. Koppe lost his regular place again to Volker Röhrich in the 1984/85 season , while he was only used five times. For the rest of the season he was used in the 2nd team in the third-class district league. In November 1985 Koppe had to do an 18-month military service, but was able to continue playing football with the third-class army sports community Vorwärts Fünfeichen , which he helped to win the championship title in the district league in 1986.
After completing his military service, Koppe wanted to return to Hansa Rostock, was also reported for the 1987/88 season for 2nd team, but was not used. Instead, he played seven point games for the GDR league club Motor Babelsberg by the end of 1987 and three point games in the second half of the season for the league competitor Post Neubrandenburg . Afterwards Jens Koppe was no longer represented in the higher class leagues.
