family

Jens Frederik Kreutzmann was the son of the Danish trade assistant Johan Ernst Kretzmer (1784-1853), whose name changed to Kreutzmann . His mother Eunyche Marie Hansdatter Møller (1795-1860) was the daughter of the Dane Hans Christensen Møller († 1833) and the Greenlander Abigael Ludvigsdatter († 1828).

On May 8, 1848 Jens Kreutzmann married in Maniitsoq Rosine Karoline Lyberth (1828-1857), daughter of the colonist Søren Daniel Lyberth (1792-1869) and the Greenlander Ruth Zakariasdatter (1790-1860). The son Gert Anton Niels Jens Kreutzmann (born May 6, 1849 in Kangaamiut) emerged from the marriage. His wife died young eight years later and Jens Kreutzmann married Charlotte Amalia Sommer (1837–1898), daughter of David Sommer and his wife Alhed, on May 5, 1859 in Kangaamiut. The following children were born from this marriage:

Career

Like his father, Jens Kreutzmann was the Udsteds administrator of Kangaamiut. In 1858, Inspector Hinrich Johannes Rink asked the Greenlanders to write down and illustrate their old myths and legends. Jens Kreutzmann's and Aron von Kangeq's works particularly stood out. 44 watercolors were created that were later given to the National Museum by Rink's widow Signe Rink and are now in the Greenland National Museum. His works are grosser than Aron's and tend towards caricature . In contrast to Aron, Jens Kreutzmann also drew everyday situations in Greenlanders. In 1866 he illustrated the book Eskimoiske Eventyr og Sagn for Rink . A collected edition of his drawings and legends was published in 1997 by Karen Thisted in the book Jens Kreutzmann - Fortællinger og akvareller . Jens Kreutzmann died of old age in 1899 at the age of 71.
