Jerzy Husar , also called Jerry Husar , (born December 12, 1943 in Lemberg , Generalgouvernement ) is a Polish composer and pianist .

Live and act

From the age of five, Husar received piano lessons. Since he was considered a musical child prodigy , he received his first television appearances in 1954. After the music graduation with honors he studied at the Music Academy of Katowice and the Music Academy in Warsaw in the classes of composition , theory and piano .

He then worked as a composer , arranger and orchestra director for Polish radio and television . He also led his own jazz group. Because of the simpler and international pronunciation, he adopted the stage name Jerry .

He has lived in Switzerland since 1970, where he worked with the DRS Big Band under Hans Möckel and wrote and recorded compositions and arrangements for Katja Ebstein . He also appeared as a solo pianist at the Castle Concerts in Thun and directed the Krakowiak Choir . He plays with the Swiss jazz formation Lake City Stompers as arranger, pianist and solo trumpeter . There was also collaboration with the magazine and the “Musikszene” studio in Dietikon . He is also active as a composer and arranger.

Tours

Husar went on a four-month concert tour through the USA as a solo pianist and played "jazz paraphrases" on themes from works by Sergei Prokofiev . He played concerts in Finland , France , Germany , Austria and Switzerland and was on tour in the USA with the Lake City Stompers for three weeks (including recording a new CD).

In 1991, Husar and his wife Maria Husar in train the Musikseminar Husar, School of Music and Drama . In 1999 another school opened in Lucerne . He teaches composition , music theory and solo piano himself . He writes arrangements and tailored compositions for talented interpreters of the piano and singing classes.

  • Migelchen and the Wunderkugel musical theater piece based on the fairy tale Frau Holle by the Brothers Grimm.
